So, I don't quite understand why they are still called the Dead Three if they're not dead anymore, especially Bane who's now more powerful than ever and his Church one of the greatest in the Realms. The most successful was Bane, who has returned and become even more powerful than he was before Bhaal has recovered the Murder domain from Cyric, getting back to the same position he was at before the Tablets of Fate's stealing Myrkul was not so lucky and, while he was THE god of death in the past, he now is in the same ranking and position with Jergal and serves Kelemvor.

The three were killed during the Time of Troubles but eventually managed to return and recover at least some aspects of godhood. They're about to enter the Dungeon of the Dead Three in Baldur's Gate, so I went on to read about these 3 deities. I've recently began DMing the 'Avernus' campaign and I've realized I have to study a lot of the FR lore in order to give the appropriate in-game experience to my players.
